FAQ

Is the filter basket pressurised or non-pressurised?

The machine features an integrated portafilter and basket with a single outlet hole. While this may resemble a pressurised system, it functions as a non-pressurised basket—similar to those found in many premium machines. This setup allows for a more authentic espresso experience, provided the coffee is correctly ground and tamped.

What types of coffee can I use?

You can brew using either finely ground espresso coffee or compatible capsules. The machine supports standard Nespresso®-style pods (including L’OR, Jacobs, Lavazza, Kimbo, and Café Royal). No need to pierce the pods yourself—an adapter is included to handle that automatically.

For best results with ground coffee, use espresso-grade grounds, tamp them lightly, and ensure the portafilter is securely fastened.

Why does my espresso look weak or watery?

This may be due to one of the following:

  • The coffee grounds are too coarse. Use a very fine espresso grind.
  • The portafilter or filter basket is not properly secured or installed.
  • The coffee is not tamped correctly (too loose or too tight).
  • The basket or outlet is blocked—clean and reassemble carefully.

Can I use milk or heat liquids other than water?

No. The Omnia® Espresso On the Go is designed exclusively for heating water and brewing espresso. Do not attempt to heat milk or any other liquids.

How much water can I use, and what type is recommended?

The recommended maximum capacity is 80ml, although 50ml is ideal for producing optimal crema and flavour. Use purified or filtered water to reduce scale build-up and extend the machine’s lifespan. Avoid using mineral or tap water with high mineral content.

How long does it take to heat the water and brew an espresso?

At room temperature (25°C), heating 50ml of water to brewing temperature (96°C) and extracting the coffee takes approximately 200 seconds. Larger volumes of water will increase heating time accordingly.

Does the machine work while charging?

No, the Omnia® Espresso On the Go cannot be used during charging. Please wait until it is fully charged before brewing.

How should I charge Omnia® Espresso On the Go?

Use a USB charger with an output of 5V/3A (15W) or higher. Chargers below 15W (such as Apple’s 5W adapter) are not sufficient.
You may charge using either a USB-C to USB-C cable or a USB-A to USB-C cable, depending on your power source.

If charging fails, try using a different USB-C cable. If the issue persists, please contact: customerservice@omniasweden.com.

How do I know it’s heating?

After a long press to initiate heating, the machine will emit a beep and the LEDs will flash to indicate that it is in progress. Once heating is complete, extraction will start automatically.

Do I need to manually pump or press anything during brewing?

No. Once the water and coffee are loaded, the machine handles the heating and extraction automatically. Just press the button and wait—your espresso will be ready shortly.

What if the machine doesn’t stop brewing automatically?

The machine is designed to stop automatically after the brewing cycle. If it does not, you can manually stop the process with a single press of the power button.

The machine is flashing or beeping. Is something wrong?

  • Five flashing lights and three beeps
The battery is too low. Please charge the machine fully before using.
  • Machine doesn’t heat despite being plugged in
Insufficient charge. Charging is required even if connected to power.

How do I clean Omnia® Espresso On the Go?

The machine includes a simple self-cleaning cycle. To maintain hygiene, rinse the basket and water chamber after use, and occasionally run a cycle using only clean water.

Avoid using boiling water to clean the outer shell, as it may cause discolouration. A sponge and mild detergent are sufficient for general cleaning.

What should I do if the machine isn’t extracting properly?

  • Ensure the portafilter is tightened securely.
  • Check that the correct basket is installed and free from blockage.
  • If needed, press the button twice quickly to initiate a double-extraction mode.
  • Clean the unit and retry.
